Nativity 3 Kings

 What have we been talking about for the past two weeks?   Yes, the baby Jesus.  Can you remember His Mummys name?  What about His Daddy?  And can you remember where He was  born?

We learned that angels came to shepherds and told them to go and see Jesus.  This week we are going to see who else came to see Him.  Who came to see you when you were a baby?  Maybe your granny and grandad.  Maybe your brothers and sisters.  Well it wasnt people in Jesus's family who came to see him it was shepherds ( who were very poor people) and someone else..... shall we watch and see

Can you remember the presents that the wise men gave Jesus.  Gold (which is money)  Frankincense ( nice smelling perfume) and Myrrh (a medicine to help keep people well)  What present would you give the baby Jesus?

How did the wise men find Jesus?  Yes they followed a star.  We are going to decorate some stars now and maybe when you take them home you can put them on your Christmas tree.

After snack time  - does anyone know a song about a star?  Yes Twinkle Twinkle. We are going to sing that song but we are also going to make some stars twinkle

(Use the large piece of blue lycra thats in the Jonah and the Whale box and the decorative bows.  Sit kid down around edges of lycra stretched out really tight.  Get the kids to sing twinkle twinkle while shaking lycra. Second time throw the bows (stars) onto the lycra and let them bounce them. Have some adults round the edge to catch the ones that bounce off and throw them back.  Kids love this and will probably happily play this for ages.  At the end you can take the stars off and put the  bunnies on. Try to get them to hold the lycra still while bunnies are sleeping then bounce like crazy when the hopping bit happens)

Who knows what month it is? Its December.  Who knows what season it is ? Its winter.  Who knows what happens at the end of this month, on December 25th? Week 12 Gideon

Ask the child if Gideon was excited or scared when God called him . Point out that the army of the Midianites was very large and  strong .  Ask the child if they think a big or a small army would be better to defeat an enemy with lots of soldiers .  Point out that God told Gideon to make the army smaller so that everyone would know that God alone  gave Gideon the victory . Remind the child that God still can provide people who trust Him with the  victory .  Put out a bowl of water and tell your child to take a drink ( this is better done outside to avoid a mess ) . Depending on how your child chooses to drink , you can talk about whether or not he would have been part of Gideon's army . Week5Joseph

  Talk time: Who here has brothers? Who has sisters? Who has no brothers or sisters? Do you like your siblings? Whats the best things about them? Any downsides? If we dont have brothers and sisters we can have friends instead.  God says He will always give us people who love us and look out for us. Lets say thank you to God for our brothers and sisters and our friends. (write down the names of all siblings so we can name them all - I think nearly all our kids have at least one) Lesson: Today we are going to learn about someone in the Bible who had LOTS of brothers.
