Week5Joseph

  Talk time: Who here has brothers? Who has sisters? Who has no brothers or sisters? Do you like your siblings? Whats the best things about them? Any downsides? If we dont have brothers and sisters we can have friends instead.  God says He will always give us people who love us and look out for us. Lets say thank you to God for our brothers and sisters and our friends. (write down the names of all siblings so we can name them all - I think nearly all our kids have at least one)

Lesson: Today we are going to learn about someone in the Bible who had LOTS of brothers. Lets have a listen to his story.

You can stop at the end and talk about how mean the brothers were and how Joseph felt - the video which follows on is another 3mins talking about Joseph in Egypt. It would be good to watch both if possible.

Lay tissue paper onto coat template then wet and peel off tissue so  the colour transfers onto the paper.


Nobody in the story could see what was going to happen in the  future but God knew.  Sometimes we dont know what is going to happen next - we have to trust God, His plan is always good.


Joseph went from being at the bottom of a pit to being a very important ruler in Egypt. Play a game using a bucket or bin full of shred or packing noodles. Hide some lego minifigures  or small play people in the bucket and get the kids to search for them one by one. When they have found a figure they can set it on a special chair (if you can find or make a toy throne even better) Talk about how when he was at the bottom of the pit he was scared but he trusted that God would rescue him and he did.

Bubbles - look at all the lovely colours in the bubbles they remind us of the colours in Josephs coat

Week 12 Gideon

Watch  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3CDZjpkDKU     Remind the child of Gideon and his call to be a judge and conquer the Midianites . Ask the child if Gideon was excited or scared when God called him . Point out that the army of the Midianites was very large and  strong .  Ask the child if they think a big or a small army would be better to defeat an enemy with lots of soldiers .  Point out that God told Gideon to make the army smaller so that everyone would know that God alone  gave Gideon the victory . Remind the child that God still can provide people who trust Him with the  victory .  Put out a bowl of water and tell your child to take a drink ( this is better done outside to avoid a mess ) . Depending on how your child chooses to drink , you can talk about whether or not he would have been part of Gideon's army . Point out that if someone drinks with their face in the water , they cannot see what is going on around them . Talk about ...
