Talk time.  Who has been to the seaside? What did you do there? Did you swim or paddle in the sea or build sandcastles.  Did you find shells like these?  Have a look at the shells and let children handle them,  God made all the animals that live in the sea. Can we think of any? Look at ocean life page of Flip and Learn chart. Lets thank God for making the sea and all the amazing things that live in it. Pray

Lesson. Today we are going to learn about someone in the Bible who had a big adventure on the sea

Read Usborne Bible Tales Jonah and the Whale.

Put mini figure ( lego or similar) inside blue balloon. Draw eyes & smile on balloon                                          

Small bottles of hand sanitiser, tiny amount of glitter, sea shell beads

Playtime - I found a ball spitting whale in a charity shop!! Yay!

Make fish by cutting out from plastic milk bottles. Add a split pin eye then make a fishing rod with string and a magnet ( bought a packet of magnets from Sostrene Greene for £2.50)



Water play - plastic fish , shells ,boats and anything else in a tub of water

Who knows what month it is? Its December.  Who knows what season it is ? Its winter.  Who knows what happens at the end of this month, on December 25th? Week 12 Gideon

Watch  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3CDZjpkDKU     Remind the child of Gideon and his call to be a judge and conquer the Midianites . Ask the child if Gideon was excited or scared when God called him . Point out that the army of the Midianites was very large and  strong .  Ask the child if they think a big or a small army would be better to defeat an enemy with lots of soldiers .  Point out that God told Gideon to make the army smaller so that everyone would know that God alone  gave Gideon the victory . Remind the child that God still can provide people who trust Him with the  victory .  Put out a bowl of water and tell your child to take a drink ( this is better done outside to avoid a mess ) . Depending on how your child chooses to drink , you can talk about whether or not he would have been part of Gideon's army . Week5Joseph

  Talk time: Who here has brothers? Who has sisters? Who has no brothers or sisters? Do you like your siblings? Whats the best things about them? Any downsides? If we dont have brothers and sisters we can have friends instead.  God says He will always give us people who love us and look out for us. Lets say thank you to God for our brothers and sisters and our friends. (write down the names of all siblings so we can name them all - I think nearly all our kids have at least one) Lesson: Today we are going to learn about someone in the Bible who had LOTS of brothers.
